OurWinnipeg

OurWinnipeg Community Advisory Committee

The OurWinnipeg Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a way for residents to provide input into community based issues, city-wide priorities, policy development, and public engagement. The committee was formed in June 2017 and worked together throughout the review process. The City received over 70 applications and 14 members were chosen for their experience, skills, community participation, knowledge about the planning process, and reflection of community diversity.

The CAC provided valuable community perspectives and recommendations throughout the OurWinnipeg review process.

Purpose of the Committee

CAC members helped shape the foundation of Winnipeg's future development priorities as the City undertook the review of the plan. The advisory committee:

  1. Advised the Urban Planning Division on community-based issues, public engagement activities, city-wide priorities, and other OurWinnipeg-related issues
  2. Explored and refined guiding principles, gaps or opportunities in policies, programs, priorities, and resource allocation in the OurWinnipeg review, as identified by the City of Winnipeg, public engagement activities, or background studies
  3. Built relationships with specific sectors, networks and community members to reach members of the general public who have typically been underrepresented in past planning processes to participate in a meaningful way
