Transcript for Doggie Dates program video

We have a really cool program at Animal Services called the Doggie Date Program and it allows residents to take an adoptable dog out for a day, overnight, a weekend, or a week.

What they do with the dogs is they take the dogs to local parks, the Forks, their home, even two malls - Kildonan Place and Grant Park Mall - participate where you can bring the dogs inside.

The whole benefit of this program is twofold. First the person benefits because it is improving residents' health and wellness by getting them out and taking the dogs for walks. It improves our dog, because our dogs are getting more socialization in the community.

When the dog leaves here it is wearing an 'adopt me' vest and a pet licence. Of course some of these dogs are getting adopted, as a result of either the doggie dater or being seen in the community wearing that adopt me vest.It really is a wonderful program.
