Location Checklist
Once you have received your permission email, Control Code number and issued permits there are a number of things you still have to do and consider.
- Film Scout Letters please forward a copy of your Scouting Letter to the Film Liaison Shelly Anthis, so we are aware of your scouting foot print and please review areas with Film Liaison.
- Neighborhood Notification letter - All papering letters MUST be sent in advance and approved in advance by Film Liaison, please submit for approval prior to distributing to Film Liaison shellyanthis@winnipeg.ca
- Neighborhood Notification letter MUST be hand delivered to residences and business a minimum of 2 business days in advance (week days hours). Please do not tape letters to businesses, go in and speak to them. You are an ambassador to the film industry and it crucial that all details of filming are communicated effectively with both residents and business owners in advance of filming to avoid any misunderstandings. If there is no answer please only use painters tape to adhere notice to business door or fold in a way for owners to see the notification in the mailbox or door. For locations with inaccessible upper floors please share/leave a few letters so landlords/owners can notify others in their buildings.
- Check your Special Events/No parking signs at least 2 business days in advance. Make sure you check the date and time on signs and that they correlate to your permit, not just that they are up. For signs going up on the weekend, please check by noon on the Friday before.
- Do you require the assistance of police for road closures or intermittent traffic control? Book at least 5 days in advance. Contact Dre Maier and cc Shelly Anthis . Costs associated with the WPS members providing services are the financial responsibility of the Production Company. There is a minimum charge of three hours for each WPS member and a cancellation notice must be given, within a reasonable period of time, if booked services are no longer required. Special Duty Policing Service must be paid in advance of filming unless otherwise advised. Find information on Special Duty Police Rates.
- Parking removal procedure on day of filming – attend to your location to make best efforts to find any owners to vehicles within your permitted area 2 to 3 hours prior to truck move in for filming. If you are not successful in locating vehicle owners follow the procedure below;
- If Special Event signs/plates have been up for 24 hours of more; please proceed with below step. In this case, all cars will be ticketed and towed.
- If Special Event signs/plates have NOT been up for 24 hours or more; please proceed with below step. In this case, any cars that you may need moved will be courtesy towed to surrounding area at the expense of the production all cars will be ticketed and towed (billed by towing company direct to the production, payments due net 30 days.
- In cases where there are 5 or less vehicles you must email the following city departments; wpa-dispatch@winnipeg.ca and cc the following; shellyanthis@winnipeg.ca AND michaelblack@winnipeg.ca. Always include Control Code, Location you are at and Contact info for on site PA with make, model and license plate numbers and your contact name and number. You will receive a confirmation email from the Winnipeg Parking Authority confirming receipt of your email.
