WFPS in the Community
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is committed to connecting with residents. Each year, WFPS members and public education officers host hundreds of in-person educational opportunities for residents. Apply today to register your school or community group for one of the available opportunities.
Station Tours
Schools and community groups are invited to participate in WFPS station tours. Station tours provide the opportunity to meet the firefighters and paramedics committed to public safety and see first-hand the vehicles and equipment WFPS members use on a daily basis.
Tours will last approximately one hour, are subject to availability and may be interrupted by alarms. Should an alarm occur, visitors must leave the station. Visitors may wait outside, but if the units do not return, another tour will be booked. Personal tours such as birthday parties are not accepted.
Tours will be booked in the following timeslots based on station availability, and are available seven days per week.
To book a station tour, please fill out the Station Tours form.
Street drugs, addiction, and community drug trends presentations
Each year, WFPS responds to more than 8,000 calls for service related to substance use. WFPS paramedics host more than 100 educations presentations about substance use for high school students, community groups, and conferences. Presentations focus on trauma-informed care and awareness, stigma reduction strategies, signs and symptoms of an overdose, current drug trends, and real-life stories.

Presentations for Older Adults
Some presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of specific groups, such as older adults. Common topics include trip and fall hazards and how paramedics respond to medical emergencies.

Fire Safety House

WFPS staff accompany the Fire Safety House to events, delivering safety information that can help educate participants how to safely escape a building in the event of a fire.
The Fire Safety House can be booked by schools, daycares, and community groups, free of charge. All bookings are subject to availability. The Fire Safety House is available from mid-May to mid-August each year. Bookings should be submitted at least four weeks in advance.

Fire engines or ambulances may be available to attend school or community events, free of charge, when possible. To request a crew visit for your event, please complete the school or community visit form. All crews and apparatus are on-duty while attending community events, so they may be called away at any time. Crews are not available between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
