Reconciling our History Walking Tour
In 2019, a learning opportunity was developed in partnership with the Manitoba Museum to provide participants with Indigenous perspectives in context to historical markers, plaques and spaces of interest located in Winnipeg's Exchange District.
The Reconciling our History Walking Tour focuses on monuments and is designed to engage participants actively in dialog regarding the history of Indigenous perspectives within the City of Winnipeg. By incorporating the act of remembering Indigenous stories that are largely absent from monuments, participants are able to question those stories and to reposition the story of Winnipeg as an Indigenous space on Indigenous and non-Indigenous shared lands, also known as Treaty No.1 territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
