Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord
Updates to the Accord
To show our commitment to and progress on the MMIWG Calls for Justice and to enhance the opportunities for our Accord partners to further participate in reconciliation, the City of Winnipeg is now including the MMIWG Calls for Justice in the Accord commitment and reporting process. It is our hope that including the MMIWG Calls for Justice within the Accord framework will provide an opportunity for other organizations to become Accord partners. The change is meant to show our commitment to and progress on the MMIWG Calls for Justice and to enhance the opportunities for our Accord partners to further participate in reconciliation.
Should Accord partners choose to expand their current actions to include MMIWG Calls for Justice, they can update their goal statements to include the related Calls for Justice and begin sharing any progress when they are ready.

What is the Accord?
Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord is a tool in which Indigenous and non-Indigenous Winnipeggers can come together and explore reconciliation. The Accord was unanimously adopted by City Council on March 22, 2017, marking an important step forward in the City of Winnipeg’s Journey of Reconciliation.
The City of Winnipeg continues to explore and learn more about reconciliation. As an organization, we have committed to learning, growing and doing things differently. One of our key actions in supporting reconciliation was creating the Accord, so that organizations and individuals can come together while learning and sharing in reconciliation. This has become our mission while we develop and grow together as a City.
The Mayor’s Indigenous Advisory Circle, in consultation and collaboration with numerous community leaders and organizations, developed the Indigenous Accord document:
We invite you to become a partner to Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord and share your organization’s Journey of Reconciliation with others.
