WASAC is the regional body that represents the Aboriginal community of Winnipeg in sport and recreation.

The mandate is to promote the benefits of participation in sport, recreation and education by providing athletic and leadership opportunities that allow Winnipeg’s Aboriginal children, youth and adults to reach their full potential.

WASAC offers a variety of sport and recreational programming to the Aboriginal community of Winnipeg in an attempt to break the barriers that hinder their participation. By recognizing the obstacles that exist WASAC is able to counteract them by offering programming to Aboriginal children, youth and adults in a culturally sensitive environment.

WASAC continually works to provide free programming that meets the unique needs of the Aboriginal community and to provide an exciting and inspiring sport, recreational and educational experience.

WASAC ensures that all participants have the necessary “tools” (clothing, nutritional meals, supplies, equipment and professional recreation leaders) required for active participation. These “tools” remove the barriers that hinder participation and will have an immediate impact on the children’s quality of life and will help them realize their full potential.

Since its inception, WASAC has left a legacy for a better tomorrow - becoming a successful organization that employs over 130 Aboriginal recreation leaders in providing year-round programming. 5000 visits of aboriginal children, youth and adults walk through our doors annually. WASAC enriches lives and inspires communities.
