Workplace Safety & Health Program Pre-Qualified Contractors
The City of Winnipeg maintains a list of contractors that have acceptable workplace safety and health programs in order to qualify to work on specified City contracts. Contractors that are SAFE Work Certified (e.g. COR™ /SECOR™) are considered by the City to already be a Workplace Safety & Health Program Pre-Qualified Contractor as long as their COR™ /SECOR™ remains current. COR™ /SECOR™ contractors must provide proof to their assigned Contract Administrator or if a contract administrator has not yet been assigned, to the City contact person listed below. For bidders who are not SAFE Work Certified, the contractor must have an evaluation performed by an independent workplace safety & health consultant, acceptable to the City. For consistency reasons, the evaluation must be done using the Contractor Safety & Health Program Evaluation Document. Contractors that have successfully passed the evaluation are to have their independent workplace safety & health consultant provide proof to their assigned Contract Administrator or if a contract administrator has not yet been assigned to the City contact person listed below. Contractors that have been found to have an acceptable safety and health program by an independent workplace safety and health consultant are considered by the City to be a Workplace Safety & Health Program Pre-Qualified Contractor for three years from the date of the evaluation of their program. The City of Winnipeg requires bidders on affected Bid Opportunities, to submit, within 5 business days of a request by the City, proof of an "acceptable" safety and health program. While Workplace Safety & Health Program Pre-Qualified contractors do not have to re-submit proof with each bid opportunity during the pre-qualified time period, they are required to provide a contract specific Safe Work Plan if specified in the contract (bid opportunity). Te ensure the Safe Work Plan includes consistent safety and health information, the contractor may be required to use the City's Safe Work Plan Document. Complete details about the City's Contractor Safety Program are found here. |
