School presentations
Safety with Social Media and Online Gaming for Parents
On October 6th, 2022, Cst. Orlando Buduhan of the School Engagement section provided parents and caregivers with a virtual presentation on Online Safety.
The Online Safety presentation was initially designed for students. But modifications were made to address the many concerns parents and caregivers should have concerning children accessing the internet.
The school engagment team partners with school ascross Winnipeg to share crime prevention and safety awareness preentations specifically for young people.
Presentations are offered on a number of topics, including:

- WPS (Career & overview)
- Gang awareness
- Drug awareness
- Bullying
- Young Drivers/Youth & LawOther

2021-2022 School patrol awards

Louise Staples Award: Houston Monkman
Louise Staples, a teacher at Greenway School, was instrumental in starting up the patrol program in Winnipeg. Every year the most efficient Patrol Captain receives an award in honour of Louise Staples.
The Winnipeg Police Service is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2020 Louise Staples Award is Houston Monkman from Elwick Community School.
