Seasonal bike routes

Winnipeg now has four annual seasonal bike routes.

Bike route designation will now be in place seasonally on each of the streets until such a time as permanent infrastructure can be studied at the locations.

These routes were part of a slate of 15 formerly referred to as the Enhanced Summer Bike Route program. In early 2023 Council approved these five continue as designated seasonal routes until such a time as permanent cycling infrastructure can be studied. The remaining 10 routes were approved to transition to full-time reduced-speed neighbourhood greenways over the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Speeds are reduced 24/7 until Thanksgiving on each route. Additional measures specific to each street will be in place on weekends in May, June, September and October, and daily through July and August. These will be in place following the 2023 spring cleaning operations.

A breakdown of additional restrictions for each route is outlined below.

Please note: speed limit reductions should be observed once signs are installed. Routes will be switched to "open" once the additional measures are installed.
