Driver training

To be eligible for a taxi or limousine licence or to register as a PTP driver, an individual must provide a document (certificate, letter) confirming successful completion of a training course approved by the designated employee.

These training courses include:

  1. VFH Professional Driver Training Program
  2. Building Cultural Competency Training
  3. Accessibility Transportation Training

1. VFH Professional Driver Training

St. James-Assiniboia Continuing Education provides VFH driver training and language assessments.

Applicants can contact St James-Assiniboia Continuing Education in person, by phone, or email to schedule training.

2. Building Cultural Competency Training

At this time, no further in-person training sessions are being offered.

We expect to offer online training in September 2026. We may review the need for future in-person training at a later date.

Please do not contact 311 as they will have no additional information or be able to assist.

3. Accessibility Transportation Training

The Independent Living Resource Centre (ILRC) provides accessibility transportation training. Applicants can contact ILRC at 204‐947‐0194 or apply online.

Note: All drivers are required to provide their ILRC certificate to the City of Winnipeg, Vehicles for Hire.
