Limousine/Luxury vehicles
Limousine Vehicle Licence Application
In order to qualify for a limousine/luxury vehicle licence, a vehicle must:
- have been issued a valid Provincial registration
- be insured with Manitoba Public Insurance according to the requirements of Manitoba Public Insurance.
- have been inspected and been issued inspection certificates applicable to that vehicle under The Drivers and Vehicles Act, C.C.S.M. c. D104, within 30 days prior to the application for registration
- be in good working order, meeting all road safety requirements
- allow for access and exits by passengers that are controlled by the passenger
- be registered with a licenced dispatcher
The City may require that a limousine and any required equipment be examined and certified as operating appropriately before a licence is issued for the vehicle.
A limousine/luxury vehicle licence can only be issued in the name of the person who is registered with Manitoba Public Insurance as the owner of the vehicle in respect of which the limousine/luxury licence is being issued.
Before the City may issue or renew a limousine/luxury vehicle licence, the owner of the vehicle must
- Pay the applicable fee
- Provide documentation and information reasonably required by the City to determine whether the vehicle’s meets the vehicle requirements of a taxi set out in the By-law
- If required by the City, submit the vehicle to an inspection
- Provide an address for service in the Province of Manitoba for service of all documents and notices related to this By-law
If the owner of the limousine/luxury is a corporation, the applicant must provide current documentation indicating the corporation is in good standing or otherwise properly registered to carry on business in Manitoba.
In order to renew a limousine/luxury vehicle licence, the licence holder:
- Must meet the requirements for an applicant for an initial licence
- Must provide information concerning any factual changes to information provided at the time of its application or most recent renewal
- Must not owe any outstanding fines or fees with respect to this By-law or any City parking by-law
