Cockburn & Calrossie CSO Master Plan projects
We are changing the existing combined sewer system to:
- Reduce the risk of basement flooding
- Reduce combined sewer overflows
- Increase wastewater capacity for future land development/infill housing.
Construction on Contract 13 has already begun in the Cockburn and Calrossie sewer district. It is expected to finish in 2026.
This ongoing work will install new sewer pipes. The new pipes will allow us to separate land drainage (rainfall and snowmelt) from wastewater in the existing combined sewer.
This work is part of the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Master Plan.
The sewer separation includes 14 contracts. Construction work for 13 contracts has been completed, at a total cost of $106.7 million.
Residents who live in River Heights-Fort Garry and Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry wards, can find out more about current traffic impacts here.
You can learn more about the work planned for the ongoing project in the “Contracts” section below.
