Jefferson East CSO Master Plan projects
We are changing the existing combined sewer system to:
- Reduce basement flooding
- Reduce combined sewer overflows
We are building new land drainage sewers, so that we can separate land drainage (rainfall and snowmelt) from the existing wastewater sewers. Construction on Contract 8 was completed in 2025 and construction on Contract 10 is in progress. We expect to complete this work in 2027.
Construction on Contract 7b is scheduled to start in 2026. It will include the installation of 943 meters of separate land drainage sewers, including manholes and catch basins.
Residents who live in the Mynarski and Old Kildonan wards can find out more about current traffic impacts here.
This work is part of the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Master Plan. So far, the work to separate the sewers in this area has cost a total of $64 million.
You can learn more about the work planned for each contract in the “Contracts” section below.
