Wastewater treatment licenses & compliance reports
The Manitoba Environment Act tells us how to run our three wastewater treatment plants. As a result of the 2003 Clean Environment Commission, the Government of Manitoba issued these licences to us:
- North End Wastewater Treatment Plant (also known as the North End Water Pollution Control Centre or NEWPCC)
- South End Wastewater Treatment Plant (also known as the South End Water Pollution Control Centre or SEWPCC)
- West End Wastewater Treatment Plant (also known as the West End Water Pollution Control Centre or WEWPCC)
The Government of Manitoba also requires a licence for our biosolids operation.
You will also find all related official correspondence between us and the Government of Manitoba at the above links.
Compliance reports
Our licences tell us what conditions we need to meet as we operate our wastewater treatment plants.
The licences make us track plant operations daily. They also lay out a standard for the quality of treated wastewater that we release to our waterways. This includes:
- Nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen
- Bacteria such as fecal coliforms and E.coli
- Biochemical Oxygen Demand
- Total Suspended Solids
