Homelessness Partnering Strategy
Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy, launched April 1, 2019, following the conclusion of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy. Reaching Home provides direct federal funding for communities across Canada to support their efforts in addressing local needs and specific homelessness priorities. Reaching Home makes a $2.2 billion investment, aligned with the goals of the National Housing Strategy, to support the most vulnerable Canadians in maintaining safe, stable and affordable housing, and to reduce chronic homelessness nationally by 50% by 2027-2028.
As of April 1, 2019, End Homelessness Winnipeg will assume the role of interim Community Entity (CE) for Reaching Home in Winnipeg, with plans to become the ongoing CE. The CE works with a Community Advisory Board (CAB) and stakeholders to plan and support service delivery and system coordination to reduce and end homelessness. From 2012-2019, the City of Winnipeg served as CE for the Homelessness Partnering Strategy, delivering federal funding to local community organizations working to assist and support individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The City and End Homelessness Winnipeg have worked together to facilitate a smooth transition of the role of CE and to Reaching Home.
