Youth Fire Stop
Fire deaths, injuries, and property damage into the millions of dollars have been directly attributed to children misusing fire in Manitoba.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is dedicated to keeping Winnipeggers safe through the Youth Fire Stop program. Through this initiative, we aim to:
- Stop firesetters from injuring themselves and others
- Reduce property damage children cause when they misuse fire
- Prevent the child firesetter from becoming an adult firesetter
The Youth Fire Stop Program relies on referrals from concerned parents, guardians, human resource agencies, police, schools, and the court system.
Complete the referral form below for youth 17 years and under:
Once a youth is referred, the WFPS sets up an initial screening with the firesetter, which helps us identify why they are setting fires. Our team recommends strategies for behavioural change, educational opportunities for the youth involved, and follow-up appointments as necessary.
