Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service celebrates Paramedic Services Week
Winnipeg, MB - Paramedic Services Week 2019 is being held across Canada from May 25 to June 1. The week-long awareness week will help inform citizens about the variety of paramedical services provided by the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS). To celebrate the week, the department’s paramedics will participate in a variety of community and educational activities starting on May 26.
The WFPS currently has 727 licensed paramedics who provide citizens with emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Sunday, May 26
What:Paramedics will attend the Children’s Hospital Foundation Teddy Bears' Picnic Where:Assiniboine Park When:9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. WFPS will have an ambulance, the Major Incident Response Vehicle (MIRV), PACER team (bike paramedics) and representatives from 911 communications on site for the public to engage with. Additionally, the WFPS Fire Safety House will be set up for children to tour and paramedics will attend to all sick and injured teddy bears.

What:Paramedics will attend David Livingston School for the official Paramedic Services Week kickoff event. Where:David Livingston School - 270 Flora Ave When:1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. WFPS members will make a presentation as well as provide a variety of interactive, educational displays about emergency health care and emergency response.

What:Celebration of Life Awards Where:Canada Inns Club Regent - 1415 Regent Ave When:11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Annually, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service hosts the Celebration of Life Awards Ceremony as part of Paramedic Services Week. This year’s awards luncheon will highlight bravery, perseverance and recovery as part of three emergency incidents.

What:Paramedic Services Week - Children's Day at the Zoo Where:Assiniboine Park Zoo When:9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. WFPS in partnership with the Assiniboine Park Zoo will host students from David Livingston School at Assiniboine Park Zoo. Their day will include messaging on health and safety as well as the importance of physical activity and nutrition.
