Gateway at Sun Valley Roundabout

This project is now complete.

A new roundabout at Gateway Road and Sun Valley Drive will be constructed in 2015. Upon completion of the Chief Peguis Trail extension in 2011, the City has continued to monitor traffic counts and changes to travel patterns in the area. After reviewing the information the Transportation Division has recommended replacing the current Gateway and Sun Valley intersection with a single lane roundabout.

The installation of the roundabout will improve traffic flows through the intersection and as a result improve operations at the signalized intersection of Gateway and Chief Peguis Trail.

The project will be delivered by the DBF2 Ltd. consortium, the same group that delivered the Chief Peguis Trail extension project. They were chosen to deliver the work under terms of the original Chief Peguis Trail Extension Agreement.

The project has already begun with the relocation of some utilities. Roadway works will begin in spring and will be completed by September 2015. When completed, DBF2 Ltd. will assume responsibility for the maintenance of the roundabout until 2041 under similar terms as the original Chief Peguis Trail Extension.
