Based on extensive consultation with area stakeholders, this study identified the Arlington Bridge as a vital community link for all modes of transportation, required to sustain traffic capacity needs. In July 2016, City Council approved the recommendation to continue with further study and engineering of a new bridge over the CPR Yards on a similar alignment as the current Arlington Street Bridge.

Next steps include continuing to plan and engineer the replacement of the bridge which includes moving to the preliminary design phase, and beginning negotiations with the CP Rail Company. City Council would still need to allocate funds for the project in order for construction to move forward.
