Have your say on the Residential Infill Development Guidelines
Additional virtual public engagement sessions added
October 2, 2020
Winnipeg is growing and will require more housing to accommodate new residents we are welcoming into our city.
In order for our city to grow sustainably, in a way that builds community and ensures excellent quality of life for all residents, it is important that a portion of our housing growth occurs through infill development, which is new housing in established neighbourhoods.
We are introducing development guidelines on residential infill in order to help address demand for new housing while preserving neighbourhood quality, character, and liveability. Residents can review the Residential Infill Development Guidelines document and provide their feedback on the draft guidelines until Thursday, October 22.
“These guidelines are intended to address where residential infill should be supported and how housing should be designed so that it can best fit into our mature neighbourhoods,” said Richard Mahe, Senior Planner.
Winnipeg has been elevated to Restricted (orange) in the Province of Manitoba's Pandemic Response System. In response, the City has had to cancel in-person public engagement events and expanded online feedback opportunities with additional virtual engagement sessions that will include a presentation and Q&A session hosted over Zoom.
Five virtual engagement sessions have been added with the first one scheduled for Sunday, October 4 at 2 p.m. Participants will be required to register prior to the beginning of the session.
