We’re now hiring around 2,000 election workers

Positions are key to ensuring the voting process runs as smooth as possible

The countdown is on to the 2022 Municipal Council and School Boards Election. It’s the biggest single day direct customer service activity we undertake. To make sure Election Day on October 26, and the advance voting period (October 3 -21), goes smoothly, we’re looking to hire an estimated 2,000 temporary workers.

“It takes a team to run a voting location and they help ensure the voting process goes smoothly for everyone,” said Sherwood Armbruster, Manager of Special Projects with the City Clerk’s Department.

There are several different positions available with responsibilities ranging from greeting and assisting voters, to operating the automated voting machine.

If you’re over the age of 18 and eligible to work in Canada, you can apply. We’re looking for people who are able to learn quickly, have attention to detail, and are capable of exercising complete impartiality. If you are bilingual, we encourage you to mention it during the application process as there are several bilingual-only positions also available. “We want to make sure everyone feels comfortable and understands their roles, so successful candidates will be required to attend a training session at City Hall ahead of their shift,” said Armbruster, who added that election works are not City of Winnipeg employees.

Application forms can be filled out online and positions will be filled up until Election Day.
