Building owners tracking and disclosing energy consumption and GHG emissions during first year of Building Energy Disclosure Project

More than 160 buildings are participating, and it’s not too late to register

April 22, 2021

As the first year of the Building Energy Disclosure Project wraps up, more than 160 buildings are tracking and disclosing their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

“The first year of the Building Energy Disclosure Project has been very successful,” said Gurmeet Singh Ghera, the City of Winnipeg’s Green Buildings Specialist.

Building owners participating in the project are tracking their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. The results, including key building profile and performance metrics, are displayed on the project’s public disclosure map.

Building owners can still register to participate in the project and start gaining insights and improving their building’s energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions during year two of the project.

The Building Energy Disclosure Project is made possible by a financial contribution from the Government of Canada’s Department of Natural Resources.
