Four charging locations at City facilities part of new pilot program

We've installed eight electric vehicle charging stations to use around Winnipeg that are free for use.

If you are an electric vehicle (EV) user looking for a charge, you can now pull up to new charging stations added at four City facilities. The stations are free to use as part of the City’s new pilot program.

You can find the Level 2 public charging stations at Seven Oaks Pool, Bill and Helen Norrie Library, Kildonan Park, and St. Vital Park. Each station has two EV chargers available.

“With Council adoption of the Winnipeg Climate Action Plan, there was an opportunity to support the adoption of zero emission vehicles by increasing the availability of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in public spaces,” said Lindsay Mierau, Manager of the Office of Sustainability.

We partnered with other municipalities to receive federal funding through a partnership with Eco-Ouest with the aim of increasing EV charging access in public places and City facilities.

The Winnipeg Climate Action Plan takes aim at greenhouse gas reduction targets because fossil fueled modes of transportation are responsible for nearly half of the total emissions in Winnipeg.
